Experience Relaxation and Release Stress with Aromatherapy
‘Everything that you can do from a place of relaxation is done better’ Stephen C. Paul

What is Aromatherapy?
Aromatherapy is a holistic natural health treatment that uses the power of plant oils (also called ‘essential oils’) for healing. Aromatherapy helps treat the body and mind and is not merely a symptomatic treatment.

Do you feel tense and jittery? Are you plagued by stress headaches?

Aromatherapy involves the inhaling or massage with concentrated, essential oils. These therapeutic oils are imbibed through the skin (or hair follicles) or absorbed through the lungs from where the molecules enter the blood stream. Once they are in the blood stream, they are transported to various organs where they deliver their healing benefits.

Since essential oils are distilled and concentrated, only a small amount of oil is required to initiate the healing process. Aromatherapy oils may be imbibed through the olfactory senses, massaged into the skin or even put into a warm bath.
Unlike allopathic treatments that are rather drastic and associated with adverse side-effects, aromatherapy works slowly and at the basic level for healing to take place.

A therapist will ask you questions about your general physical and emotional health, lifestyle and history before proceeding with the natural health treatment. Aromatherapy uses the pleasantly stimulating effect of essential oils to catalyse the healing process.

Inhalation is a great way to savour the calming or uplifting effects of a scent. Each essential oil has its own healing properties.

According to a research study conducted at the Wheeling Jesuit University, West Virginia, older people who slept in jasmine scented rooms slept better than those who slept in non-fragranced rooms.

Therapeutic oils include chamomile, lavender, orange and jasmine oils among several others. If you apply a little aromatherapy oil on your wrist pulse, you can savour its benefits throughout the day.

What are the benefits of Aromatherapy?
Aromatherapy helps counteract the negative effects of stress. Natural health essential oils help strengthen the immune system and have a calming, relaxing effect on the mind and body.

Since aromatherapy natural health treatment mitigates stress, it’s effective in the treatment of stress-induced conditions including headaches, irritable bowel syndrome and backaches.

Aromatherapy also encourages blood and lymphatic circulation and stimulates hormone production. Added benefits include a general feeling of wellbeing and better quality sleep.

Summary
Aromatherapy is a natural health technique that helps promote harmony, balance and health without the risk of side-effects.
